How should I use Headspace to meditate twice daily?

Question:

Hi, If I meditate twice a day, would you recommend doing two sessions from my current pack or something else? I've been meditating twice every day: once in the morning and once in the evening. In the morning I do the next session from my current pack. For the evening session, I've been doing a guided meditation from the Classic Singles. This seems to be fine, but I wanted to run it by you to see if you think it's less than ideal.

Andy's answer:

Hi, that’s a great question and there are a few key things to remember when doing Headspace twice a day. The first and most important is that each individual session can take a little while to sink in. Even if we think we've mastered it immediately, that’s often more concept than reality, so it’s important to have a sleep between each concurrent pack session to fully absorb it. But as you suggest, you can mix it up with some other sessions. Here are a few of my favorite combinations: Option 1 A.M: Complete a session from your current pack. P.M: Choose a Classic from the Singles library, as you suggested, at a time length which suits you on that specific day. It’s perhaps the most flexible option. The advantage of this route is that you are reinforcing the key elements from the morning session, essentially enhancing the learning process. There’s also no new information, so it prevents overload, too. Option 2 A.M: Complete a session from your current pack. P.M: To really mix things up and help focus on the integration of mindfulness in everyday life, it can be helpful to do some of the on-the-go sessions from the Singles library. This will help give some context for how the lessons learned in the morning session can be applied to activities throughout the day. At first it can feel a little abstract, but it’s surprising how much cross-over there is. The most important thing is to try to maintain momentum on your core pack, whatever that might be. So I’d always recommend doing that session when you can be sure you’ll have time for it. I’ve suggested doing it first thing in the morning because it increases the likelihood of it getting done, but please feel free to fit it into your schedule when it works best for you. Warm wishes, Andy
