Headspace unveils new Apple Watch experience designed to integrate mindfulness moments into everyday life

Now available in 190 countries worldwide, Headspace on Apple Watch supports members throughout their entire day, from morning meditations to nighttime wind-downs

SAN FRANCISCO — May 13, 2026Headspace, the leading mental health companion for everyday support, today unveiled an updated app experience for Apple Watch. Research shows the benefits of mindfulness are most durable when it’s low-friction and easily fits into people’s lives. The newly released app update introduces a streamlined approach, making it simple to access mental health support on the go, right from the wrist. 

“Breathwork is a critical micro-intervention for managing stress and staying mindful throughout the day,” said Fay Kallel, chief product and design officer at Headspace. “We're proud to bring this experience to our members, giving them clinically backed content at their fingertips and helping them build resilience through small, consistent practices that seamlessly fit into their lives.”

Introducing Headspace on Apple Watch

Headspace on Apple Watch gives members mental health support on the go, including meditations, breathing nudges, a tap-to-calm interface for stressful moments, and sleep support at night. With user permission, the app looks at data from the Apple Health app such as heart rate variability (HRV), to identify moments when members are naturally more receptive to a mindful break. This comes to life through:

  • Today’s meditation: A personalized daily session surfaces on the watch face each morning, providing a low-friction starting point for a moment of mindfulness.

  • Breathing nudges: Members can opt into gentle haptic nudges that prompt them to take a quick break with a breathing exercise. The 60-second session uses tactile cues to guide each breath directly from the wrist, making it easy to find calm on the go.

  • SOS mode: Designed for moments of acute distress, SOS mode presents a tap-to-calm interface with named emotional states, like “Panicking,” “Burned Out” and “Losing Your Temper,” which then surface content for immediate relief.

  • Sleep support: Members can start a wind-down session or play a sleepcast directly from the watch for a phone-free bedtime experience. 

  • On-the-go collections: Whether someone is out meditating in nature or taking a mindful break during the workday, collections play right from their watch.

All sessions completed on Apple Watch will contribute to a member’s progress and streaks, including total minutes meditated, etc, and Headspace can write Mindful Minutes to the Health app. Additionally, the Apple Watch app is curated for convenience, but content that members mark as favorite in the mobile app will automatically send to the Apple Watch app so they can participate in and explore additional exercises. 

Over the coming months, the company will deepen personalization within the Headspace app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch by allowing members to connect their health data from any Apple Health-compatible app and device, making the experience more personal with every use.

Headspace on Apple Watch is available in over 190 countries. To get started, members can update the Headspace mobile app, which will automatically download the Apple Watch app, or go to the Apple Watch App store to download directly. 

FAQs

Which Apple Watch models are compatible with the Headspace app? 

The app is available on Apple Watch Series 6 through Series 11, Apple Watch SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and Apple Watch Ultra, Ultra 2, and Ultra 3, running watchOS 26.1 or later. Apple Watch Series 5 and earlier, and Apple Watch SE (1st generation), aren’t supported. On newer models—Series 10 and later, Ultra, and SE (2nd generation and newer)—members can also enjoy fully phone-free audio playback directly from their wrist.

What iPhone model and iOS version do I need to use the Headspace Apple Watch app? 

Members will need an iPhone 11 or later (or an iPhone SE 2nd generation or later) running iOS 26 or above.

Which Headspace subscription plans give me access to the Apple Watch app? 

Any Headspace app subscription unlocks access to content through the Apple Watch app. 

Can I access the Headspace on Apple Watch app if I don’t have a paid Headspace subscription? 

Free Headspace users can access an immersive haptic breathing exercise through the Apple Watch app. A Headspace subscription unlocks everything else.
