Better mental health starts with Headspace

Hey Headspace. It's Raheem here, checking in. I got into meditation purely because I wanted to try something new. Hi, I'm Dora, a meditation teacher here at Headspace. I recently spent some time with international football star, Raheem Sterling. I dropped in with him to chat about football, life and how he looks after his mind. (upbeat music) If you could talk to yourself at nine years old maybe you were like, I don't wanna get up today. Or, you know, there was days where you're like I don't wanna do this. What would you? Never though. What would you? I was always up. You were always up, okay, well. Up regardless, snow, wind, I'm outside. Always. Yeah, but. That's dedication. Um, I'd say, it's easy to say now. But, don't overthink things you know, it's, it's what I keep saying, it's really important. It really easy for me to say now, cause you know, with life life experiences and stuff, but. Yeah. I think it's it's not waiting until, you know something is bothering you. Yeah. You know, but I just feel if we can, you know have these conversations from a younger age and get people to understand, to check in with yourself. I, I, I think it, it would be a very powerful message. As you said, don't wait till it's. Horrible. A point where you are, you know, hot and bothered and no one's give us the, the pathway before. No one's give us the road to life. Yeah. So these things over, over a long period of time these things take a toll on any individual human beings, where we're humans at the end of the day. Yeah, yeah and I think, you know, when I first started meditating I was the one that was like I want everyone to know about this thing. Like, I would try to change every single person in my life. I'm like, mom, like you need mindfulness. You know, my brother, you need to mind, like you need to meditate and do this thing. Cause it's so good for you. But it gets to a point where you have to embody like be what you're talking about. You know? So, I think that's what allowed me to stay committed to my own practice. And my own journey was that, if I wanted other people around me to change I had to be that change for them to see. (upbeat music)...
