Hey Headspace. It's Raheem here, checking in. I got into meditation purely because I wanted to try something new. Hi, I'm Dora, a meditation teacher here at Headspace. I recently spent some time with international football star, Raheem Sterling. I dropped in with him to chat about football, life, and how he looks after his mind. (soft upbeat music) Now, within my life and career, pressure now only comes from myself. Mhm. I feel like I'm the only person or thing that could really disrupt that. Yeah. I was always a a kid where there was always lovely things. "He's a top young talent, he's a top thing," and then all of a sudden, Yeah. when I think I was probably about 21, it all just switched so, I was like, "Oh, hold up a minute. I've never faced this before." Once I then knew what was bothering me and that was comments and Twitter. I was always on Twitter. I was always checking my name. I was always checking what people were saying, until I realized, I cut the things that were bothering me. Mhm. I'm in a much better place and a much peaceful mindspace. Yeah. And I think when we take the time to sit, right, you recognize, these aren't even my thoughts that I'm having. You know for me, I would notice like this isn't me that's thinking these thoughts, that's my dad, you know? Oh, my mom is still here influencing so much of my life or, Or that comment you seen earlier. Yeah, right. So when you sit to meditate, it's like, wow I don't even think these things about myself 'cause I know myself. What is kind of frustrating you if you are keeping yourself busy for that moment you forget about what life has thrown at you. Yeah. But if you actually, as I said you take that time out for yourself to, you know be in a room and try to, to meditate. Yeah. But I think people find that to be a harder thing to do 'cause it's not something that Yeah not something that's shown a lot. Yeah. And I think, you know, if we can keep, you know introducing young adults into meditating it would be, as you said, the world will be a much more beautiful place. (soft techno music)...
