(cursor clicks) (bright music) Headspace Studios. (gentle music) Hi, friends. Welcome to "Radio Headspace." This week, we're doing something a little different. We're taking a look at how whole body wellness can show up in places we might not expect, including our hair. I sit down with board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd. She's also board-certified in lifestyle medicine and is the chief medical advisor at Nutrafol, the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement brand. We explore how our overall health is connected to hair health and we talk about the way stress and lifestyle can influence hair thinning, why hair can act as a mirror for what's happening inside our body, and some simple and supportive steps that we can take to help us feel more balanced from the inside out. Dr. Heather, I'm so excited to have this conversation with you today. Thank you for being here. Thank you so much for having me. So how do you define overall well-being? This is always a question I like to ask people because it gives us a great starting point for the conversation that we're gonna have today. Yes, you know, well-being is this, it sounds like this amorphous thing, you know, to have well-being, but really I think it's this combination of balance between your mind, your body, and your lifestyle. I think when we have overall well-being, we feel healthy, we also feel resilient, and I think resilience is a very important part of well-being because we live in this very stressful world. So having well-being doesn't mean it's stress-free. Unfortunately, stress is a real part of our life, but the key to having overall well-being is being resilient in that stress and having the tools to manage stress. So those are the key concepts that I think about when I think about overall well-being, with where that you're healthy, you feel resilient, and you feel that you have the tools to live life to the fullest. Yeah, I mean that's a really great definition and one that I hope we all strive for, right? I mean, it's tough. It is. (both laughing) For the most part, you know, it really is. You know, you mentioned the word balance, and I think when we talk about balance in the body, I'm curious what you think that means and what are some current obstacles that we're facing right now that's keeping us from that balance? So when we think about balance, I think of a few key things. So it can mean many different things, but some very practical things. You want balance in your nutrition, for example, right? You wanna make sure that you're eating the right amount of nutrients, the right amount of fruits and vegetables. You want balance in your sleep, balance in your exercise. In other words, I think of balance when it comes to lifestyle factors because I think they're so important in determining our overall health and well-being, and balance is key...
