Hello, it's Eve here. So, perhaps today, you're fed up again with the news cycles sharing bad news after bad news. Is it leaving you wishing for things to be different than they are? Do you find yourself once again longing for change? Well, my friend, you are not alone. The world we live in is complex. And let's be honest, recently, it's been downright hard. In some ways, it's felt like things won't ever get better. And I'm right there with you, hoping and waiting for certain things to change, especially when I see that it's causing others to suffer, including this beautiful planet that we live on. This is a normal response, especially when life throws you rotten lemons. Like, enough already! So, please don't give yourself a hard time if you too want things to change. The good news is that things are changing all around us all of the time, we just maybe don't see it. There might be a problem or a challenge we are facing, and it can feel like unless we solve it all in one go, it won't ever change. Or we might be experiencing a certain mood or a mindset that we feel stuck in. And this can especially be the case if we're feeling sad or dealing with grief, this sense that you will always feel like this. I know this was the case when my dad died very suddenly. But over a period of time, my capacity to experience joy and even happiness has expanded. So, to help navigate this, it can be helpful to take a step back and start to notice the little things in life that are changing around you, rather than waiting to see everything change at once. That might be noticing one small way to tackle a challenge you're facing versus trying to solve the whole thing. It might be noticing when a strong emotion ends, realizing that you don't always feel one particular way. It could be paying attention to when laughter is present and seeing how that makes you feel. Wanting things to be different than they are can also mean that we're not paying attention to what is right in front of us. Shared moments with family members or doing something we enjoy can be easily missed. In life, things are going to happen that we find hard and that challenge us. But little by little, if we can pause and step back, we can also look at small changes that bring us joy or that we hadn't noticed before. So, the next time you find yourself feeling like you're wishing for change to happen, I encourage you to take a pause, maybe take a deep breath, and repeat the following mantra. "Things are changing all around me. We are all capable of making change happen, even if we have to start small."...
