(bright upbeat music) (plunking) (gulping) Headspace is here to help kids and families show their mind some love. It's time to take a breather. Hi, and welcome to Headspace Breathers. I'm Samantha, a kids and family mindfulness expert. Do you ever feel like you're just in a bad mood? I definitely do. And lately lots of us have been feeling sad, frustrated or lonely. But even if we're upset about something we can still try to have a good day. So let's talk about finding positivity. Let's check in with our emotion experts to see what they say about staying positive. It has been hard for me to stay happy because I miss school even though school's very hard. For me, it hasn't really been hard to stay positive because I dunno, I've just found my inner peace and I'm just kind of accepting the fact that sometimes I'm gonna be sad, sometimes I'm gonna be happy, but like, I'm happy now. It's been hard for me to stay positive lately, sometimes, because of school and things going on in our world which is quite sad. Some days has been hard to stay positive just because of all the pressure, like staying inside, don't touch your face. "Oh, are you gonna go into the shop? "Okay, just don't touch anything. "Oh, here's a sanitizer." It's just a lot of different things. "Oh, we're running out of toilet paper!" That's the classic one. So sometimes it's been hard but I've had my parents to help me keep me company and I think talking to them really, really helps. I know some days it's hard to stay positive, and you're not alone. We all feel that way sometimes, especially now. Remember that feeling sad or frustrated is not a bad thing, it's a normal part of life. Feelings act like a compass pointing us in the direction we wanna go in. When difficult feelings come up it's letting us know that something important to us is not here right now, or that we wanna get back on track when we've veered off course. There are ways we can shift the direction of our compass by recalling experiences and people that help us feel better. Here are some exercises you can do anywhere to find and keep positivity during challenging times. (page turns) (bright upbeat music) Let yourself feel happy. First, give yourself permission to feel happy. When you remember a happy moment, you may notice that other feelings such as longing or sadness start to creep in. This just means that the memory is very special to you and that you may hope it happens again soon. Remember that you don't have to choose a side (cheering) between happy and sad. You can feel both at the same time, allowing the feelings to bubble up and then change in their own time. Give it a try. How does your body feel physically when you imagine letting yourself feel happy? When I have sad feelings,...
