The rain comes down in steady sheets, but a world of tiny gears and wonders awaits you inside. For a place that deals in the business of time, this clock shop feels oddly untouched by its passage. On the glass door of this corner building, thick, golden, curlicue letters simply read Timeless Clock Shop and Repair. Floor to ceiling windows admit the street lamp's glow, albeit muted by the rain. The clockmaker is steadily working in the back of the shop, but near the front is a perfectly cozy spot for any visitor to wait and dry off. Two elegantly worn leather chairs invite the weary to relax into their cushions. Waiting on the coffee table next to a steaming kettle of tea, is a vintage watch magazine from some bygone era. Tonight, the pages are open to show a photograph of a beautiful rose gold diver's watch. Due to its water tight sealing, it can go up to 200 meters under water and still show perfect time. The watch's dial is a shimmering green with hour and minute hands that glow red in the dark, making it easy to see, even in the darkness of the ocean depths. "Don't be late for your next adventure." reads the headline. This is one of my very favorite shops, but before we explore it fully, let's take a moment for a little wind down exercise. Tonight's exercise is a really simple breathing exercise, so when you're ready, let's begin. So first, get yourself comfortable. Now just bringing the attention to the breath, just noticing where you feel it in the nose, the throat, the chest, the diaphragm. You're nice and relaxed. We're going to be taking a deep breath in for four, holding it for four, and then breathing out for six. So, are you ready? Let's begin. In for four, two, three, four. Hold it for four, two, three, four. Now breathing out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, three, four, five, six. Great, now returning the breath to normal. At the far end of the shop is a counter where customers present their pieces to the clockmaker. Dotting the long cream counter are pink and blue sticky notes. Each one covered in scribbles of customer information. Shimmery silver pencil strokes from lazy cursive letters that trail off the paper. Together, the little squares form a loose mosaic. Amongst the notes, a large cordless phone rests upright on a dock, purchased back when it was state of the art technology. Most numbers on the soft, oval buttons have long been worn away. Yet its smooth, green plastic still shines. A long antenna reaches out...
