(birds chirping) Beyond Poipu Beach and deep within the Alaka'i Wilderness Preserve, a natural pool lies hidden in the rainforest. Cradled by towering Ohi'a trees, their branches draped in trailing veils of moss, all around the forests, shades and shapes blend together as if nature were painting in watercolor. As we prepare for our visit, let's take a moment for a brief wind down exercise. Tonight's exercise is a really simple, breathing exercise. So when you are ready, let's begin. So first, get comfortable in your bed. Now just bringing the attention to the breath, just noticing where you feel it (thunder rumbling) in the nose, the throat, the chest, the diaphragm, you're nice and relaxed. We're going to be taking a deep breath in for four, holding it for four, and then breathing out for six. So are you ready? Let's begin in for four, two, three, four. Hold it for four, two, three, four. Now breathing out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four. Holding for four, two, three, four. Out for six, two, three, four, five, six. Great, now returning the breath to normal. (rain pattering) The island rises from the Pacific in sweeping green cliffs. Kauai is Nāpali Coast expands like a vast cathedral wall sculpted by time. The ridges climb from the sea, layered with forests so dense, they seem to breathe as if every crease and hidden cove was drawn with the precision of a hand inked map. Narrow waterfalls thread down from the height, catching the last of the sun's rays as they fall into the ocean's surf below. From a bird's view, the coastline appears almost untouched. An edge of the world with no roads, only narrow footpaths, winding along the ridges. (birds chirping) Among them is the Kalalau Trail, a rugged path that stretches 11 miles along the coast. Hikers spend long days following its switchbacks, climbing ridge lines and crossing streams. Their journey ending at the quiet curve of a secluded beach. Now and then a white sailboat slips past, it's mast catching the light as it traces a slow, deliberate path along the shoreline. The ocean here is so clear, you can see coral gardens below and the flicker of fish in the shallows. Above the water the cliffs lift in layers of green and red. Their colors settling into softness as the evening light fades. (birds chirping) Near the center of Kauai, rises Mount Waialeale, its summit often hidden behind a crown of clouds (rain pattering) from a distance, the mountain appears guarded by a rainforest that thrives in its constant mist. Everywhere, the land glistens as if the mountain has just stepped out of the ocean and its skin is still luminous...
