Better mental health starts with Headspace

If there is a heaven for book lovers, perhaps it looks something like the Moonlight Library, a venerable old library with a world-class collection, surprisingly lenient borrowing terms, and unique opening hours. You see, the Moonlight Library, as the name perhaps suggests, is only open at night. From dusk until dawn, anyone is welcome to browse the shelves, to borrow books, or just to absorb the atmosphere. There are plenty of good books here and nearly as many perfect places to curl up with one. Taking a tour like this is perfectly permissible. It's encouraged, in fact. All that is asked of us is that we keep our voices down out of respect for the other readers who are here to enjoy this lovely space. Before we begin, I think it's nice to start with a little wind down. And tonight's exercise is a really simple breathing exercise. So when you're ready, let's begin. So first, get comfortable in your bed. Now just bringing the attention to the breath, just noticing where you feel it, in the nose, the throat, the chest, or the diaphragm. You're nice and relaxed. We're going to be taking a deep breath in for four, holding it for four, and then breathing out for six. So are you ready? Let's begin. In for four, two, three, four, hold it for four, two, three, four, now breathing out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four, holding for four, two, three, four, out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four, holding for four, two, three, four, out for six, two, three, four, five, six. In for four, two, three, four, holding for four, two, three, four, out for six, two, three, four, five, six. That's great. Now returning the breath to normal. Long ago, when the Moonlight Library was new, people read by the light of candles. In the oldest books, you might even catch the faintest web of candle wax. With electricity, it's much easier for us to read through the night, and there's far less risk of accidents. Gold chandeliers hang from the ceiling of the Moonlight Library. If you look closely at the intricate swirling patterns, you can see vines and roses clustered around the lightbulbs. Crystal beads decorate the chandeliers, scattering drops of light around you. How elegant. There are more lamps placed at perfect points along the bookshelves and reading nooks. These lamps have brass stands with lampshades of cool green glass. They cast pools of light on the space beneath them. No matter where you are in the library, there's always enough light for reading. Soft sounds fill the library like dried mint steeping in a teapot, slowly infusing the warm water. Listen to the rustle of pencils taking notes and all those pages turning. Listen to the gentle brush of branches against the library windows. The great trees growing around the library shift in the wind. Tall as...
