Better mental health starts with Headspace

(gentle music) Headspace Studio. (birds chirping) (footsteps) Hi again, my name is Dora from Headspace and welcome to Self-Care Sundays. Sounds a bit better than Sunday Scaries, right? And that's what I wanna try with you today. What if we could approach Sundays as a day to take care of ourselves? Think of yourself as a seed, and Sunday is the soil, water, and sunshine needed for that seed to grow, and it's growth that helps us flow with ease throughout the week. So if we can create better conditions for ourselves on Sundays by watering, nurturing, and tending to our needs, we set ourselves up to blossom. Think about a few ways or a few things that you can do to ensure that you're creating the right conditions for yourself to grow, to be happy, and also to be filled with joy. I'll go first. There are three things that I love to do every Sunday, and who knows? Maybe you'll love them too. The first thing is meditating, or even just reflecting on the past week and thinking about how I want the week ahead to look and feel like. Now, it doesn't need to be too specific, but the point is to really take some time out to just be with the mind and body. The second thing is find something that brings you joy. Like when was the last time you really had a sense of play and real joy, even if it's just for five or 10 minutes? I often hear from people that they haven't felt joy in a long time, and there's residual shame that follows with that realization. So if we can connect with those things that make us feel good, that bring those deep belly laughs and jaw aching grins, we'll begin to spark joy in even the most dreadful moments, like Sunday nights. And then the last one, before you go to bed tonight, before the week even begins, just write down one or two things that you're grateful for. Now, it sounds like a small thing, and it sounds like it wouldn't make that much of a difference, but its surprising not only how different it can make us feel today, but also how that carries into the rest of the week. But for now, Just take a moment or two to take a deep breath, breathing in through the nose, and then breathing out through the mouth. And as you breathe out, if you haven't done already, just gently closing the eyes, if that feels right for you. And just feeling the weight of the body sinking down. Noticing how the body's feeling today and respecting that, making sure that you take time out if you need it. And starting to notice the breath and how the breath feels in the body today. And using the breath as a barometer and noticing how you feel, taking time out if you need it. And just staying with that feeling,...
