(air whooshing) (gentle music) Headspace Studios. (gentle music) Hello world, it's Dora and welcome back to Sunday Scaries, Student Edition, I'm here with the one and only Gael. Gael, introduce yourself. Hi everyone, I'm Gael Aitor. I'm one of the hosts on the Teenager Therapy podcast, and I'm so excited to be here. Really excited for the topic today. Ooh, today we are diving into the wonderful world of breakups, I love a good breakup story. (hosts laughing) It's always fun hearing. Yeah, I am fascinated by breakups and I wanted to talk about this because the other day I was reflecting on my own history of breakups and how my ability to handle them has evolved as I've gotten older. My journey with meditation began from experiencing a really hard and difficult breakup when I was younger. I was going into university at the time and I was like, dating this guy that was like the captain of the rugby team. He was super hot. Ooh. And good looking, and I was like, "Wow, we're gonna be together forever," and that was not the case. We only dated for like, nine months. But like, honestly, like that impact has still stuck with me up until this day. And why do you think that was? I think it was because I was the first person that I had ever dated, like first kiss, first everything with that person, right? So like that really opened my eyes to, one, how all-consuming love can be and like, overwhelming. And two, how all-consuming like, heartache and grief can be afterwards when things don't work out. Oh my gosh. Tell me about your breakup history. Yes, so. This episode comes with funny timing because currently, I'm like in the process of navigating a breakup and losing someone that I loved very deeply. Yeah. Sorry. Thank you. It was difficult. It is difficult and part of what I've been trying to wrap my head around is I think this has been probably the most intense breakup that I had, where it definitely felt like a clear cut, these are the clear boundaries from now on. These are the clear restrictions on how we act and how we can't act. Yeah. And we're not gonna go back to how we were. And when it comes to this breakup, what I've been finding myself trying to do is, just figure out what to do with these feelings. What I've been telling myself is to feel them. You know, my body is a vessel. Just let the emotions pass through. And it's just riding that rollercoaster of emotions of I feel really good right now. Let me stay like this and if I drop, that's okay. I don't need to keep doing these things to lift my mood up. Which I think oftentimes can end up as distractions. And it's so interesting because I like to think about it as two parts, your mind and your heart. Personally, and I'm curious to hear...
