Inspired by a galaxy far, far away, two friends strap into the Millennium Falcon for a journey across the Star Wars galaxy. Chewbacca is off to visit his family on his home planet Kashyyyk, and his sidekick, BB-8, is along for the ride. There may be some bumps along the way, but with the power of mindfulness, the Force is always with you. I'm Sam from Headspace. It's time to find your Force with Star Wars and Headspace on a journey with Chewbacca and BB-8. (Chewbacca roaring) (machine beeping) (Millennium Falcon whooshing) (computers beeping) (BB-8 squeaking) (tools rattling) (hammer thudding) (alarm blaring) (Chewbacca roaring) (BB-8 squeaking) (Chewbacca roaring) When we set out for a big journey, sometimes things don't always go as planned, even on the Millennium Falcon, but when you're feeling upset or frustrated, there's a trick I like to use to try to find my Force again. It's called STOP. S-T-O-P. It stands for stop, take a breath, observe, and proceed. Wanna try it with me? Great. First, when you notice you're upset or overwhelmed, you'll stop what you're doing. Okay, Chewy, take a break, and put down your tools. This will keep us from getting more and more frustrated. Second, we take a couple slow deep breaths. This one really helps me calm down. So take a nice deep breath, closing your eyes if you want to. Breathe in through the nose for a count of three, hold for a moment at the top of your breath, and then breathe out for a count of four. Nice. Let's try that again. Breathing in for a count of three, holding at the top, and then breathe out for a slow count of four. Now let's observe, which means to take a look at our emotions, and how they make our bodies feel. What sensations or feelings are in your body? Start by naming the emotion that you're noticing. For example, maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, or even a little frustrated like Chewbacca. How are you feeling? Then we'll scan down through the body, starting at the top of our head, and going all the way down to our toes, or our paws. Notice where you feel these emotions in your body, maybe in your head, maybe your jaw feels tense. Maybe your shoulders are a little stiff. As you notice these areas, take another deep breath, and invite them to relax and release. Finally, we'll proceed with more calm. That means now that we've cooled off, and relaxed our minds and bodies, we can continue with whatever we're doing with a little more patience and positivity. When we're upset, it can be really hard to try and solve a problem. Hopefully these two are feeling a little more at ease, and ready to try fixing the Falcon again. (BB-8 grinding) Awesome, we might not be moving at light speed, but the ship is up and running again. But if we're going to make it to Kashyyyk on time to see...
