Better mental health starts with Headspace

In seeing the direct nature of change, There's an increasing appreciation for the unique and precious quality of each and every moment in our life. So as we go about our, our life we tend to sort of get caught up in, in habit, in routine it's always just the same thing happening over and over again, doesn't matter whether it's our walk to work or a lunch, maybe even our meditation, where we sit down and we just assume we're doing the same thing over and over again. But if we look a little more closely it's not repetition, it's familiarization. This applies especially to meditation. So just like every snowflake is different, every single breath is different. If we can bring that level of interest and curiosity, appreciation to our meditation, to observing the breath then something starts to change. In the same way that we understand when we're watching a sunset perhaps that is fleeting, that is gonna pass, and so we really sort of savor that moment. In the same way as we're watching the breath, we know that that in breath is gonna pass. We savor that moment. Each out-breath is gonna pass. So we savor that moment. If we can bring that level, to say of appreciation to each and every moment then it really begins to transform, not just our meditation but our entire life. So just taking a moment to settle both the body and the mind, we'll start with the eyes open. And when you're ready, just a big, deep breath, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. And as you exhale this time, just gently closing the eyes. Just starting to notice the body, in particular that feeling of weight, the body pressing down. Perhaps the feet on the floor, the hands, the arms just resting on the legs. And starting to notice the different sounds around you, allowing sounds to come and go, now thinking about them, just noticing the different sounds. And then bringing the attention back to the body. Noticing if there's any sense of restlessness or stillness in the body today. Okay. Not thinking about it, just noticing, and noticing how the breath is behaving today. So just noticing whether the breaths are long, short, deep or shallow, just following that movement. Place your hand on the stomach, if you find it easier. Just resting the mind on that sensation. And now just letting go of that focus, bringing the attention back to the body, back to that feeling of weight, of contact, back to the sounds around you. And when you're ready, just gently opening the eyes again....
