Sometimes our minds wake up and immediately start trying to solve the entire day. Running through conversations, deadlines, worst case scenarios. When we don't have clarity, control, or closure, the mind naturally starts searching for them. Worrying can feel productive because it gives the mind something to do. But it doesn't always bring us any closer to the answers we're looking for. And then before we know it, we're worrying about worrying. So for the next few moments, let's give your mind something else to focus on. Begin by taking a slow, deep breath in and a long breath out. If it feels comfortable, just gently closing the eyes and bringing your attention to where you are. So feeling your body resting against the bed or cushion, noticing the weight of your body being supported, feeling the temperature of the room on your skin, and listening for any sounds around you in your space, and just allowing your senses to gently remind your brain that you're here, not in all the places your mind has traveled. And again, your mind is doing what minds often do when they sense uncertainty. It's trying to protect you. So reflecting on what would be most helpful for you right now. What do you need? Maybe it's taking another deep breath or it's placing a hand over your heart, reminding yourself that you don't have to have everything figured out before your day begins. Or it could be getting out of bed and taking the next small step, just reflecting on what you need to feel supported and cared for. Now, taking one more slow breath in and out. Remember, you don't have to solve the whole day before it begins, the future can wait. For now, see if you can meet this moment with your full care and attention and allow that to be enough....
