Hey guys, Courtney here for day four of Your Better Money Moves. I'm so excited for today because we're gonna learn all about saving. Don't be scared. Saving has everything to do with accomplishing that goal we set in day one. Most life goals always come with some sort of money saving attached to them, whether it's a stash to help get your dreams off the ground or saving enough to make a big life change. There's so much wisdom in this episode about all of that. I just wanna start you off with this little nugget. The trick to saving is to consider it a way of paying yourself. I know, paying myself, how? Stay with me, though. You set that goal on day one. Remember, that goal was for you, so any money you put towards it is literally like paying yourself. I'll let Kaplan explain more. Today we're gonna talk about saving. Now if you're feeling like, what's that, I don't ever do it, don't worry, you're not alone. So many of us don't save, or we feel like we're not saving enough. So let's take a step back and figure out, what is saving and how can we actually become better at it? Saving at its core is really just putting some money aside for things that are super important for you. So maybe it's saving for retirement because you don't wanna work forever. Maybe it's saving for a trip because you really wanna get out. For each of these things, we can either put it into the category of a short-term savings or a long-term savings. So if you plan on doing something, say, in the next year, three years, even five years, those can be considered short-term savings plans, whereas other things such as retirement are much further down the line. You get to decide for yourself really what you want to consider a short-term savings plan and what you wanna consider long-term. Just think, what are your goals now versus what are your goals that you have for someday? Here's the problem with savings most of the time. We get our paycheck, we spend our money, and then we decide whether or not we can save and how much of it we actually will. The problem with this is that most of us will spend every penny that we have on things that are fun in the now, and that savings goal, eh, we kind of just forget about it. If this is you, don't worry, you're not alone. This is normal human nature. So what can we do to counteract it? For me, I get an income and every month what I'll do is I'll spend it on my housing, I'll spend it on my transportation, maybe bills that I have, and then after that, I'll just enjoy the rest of my money because why else would I have it? At the end of the month, it then comes down to me...
