So wherever you are right now, just take a moment to settle in. It doesn't matter whether you're at a desk, on a couch, somewhere in between classes, just finding a position that feels comfortable. Feet flat on the floor if that's available to you. And hands resting wherever feels natural. And then when you're ready, just gently closing your eyes. Now, taking a couple nice, big, deep breaths. Breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the mouth. As you breathe in, a sense of taking in fresh air, the lungs expanding. And as you breathe out, a sense of the body softening, letting go of whatever has been going on up until this point. And then on the next exhale, returning the breath back to its natural rhythm and pace. And just bringing to mind something that's been a little hard lately. Maybe it's a grade that didn't go the way you wanted. Maybe it's the sense that you should be further along than you are. Or doing this better than you're doing it. Whatever it is, just allowing it to come to mind. And as you hold that, just noticing what becomes present in the body. Maybe there's some tightness somewhere in the body, a heaviness, a sense of not quite measuring up, and recognizing that this is a hard moment, but not the only moment. And it might help to know this isn't just you. This fear of not getting it right, of making a mistake, of falling short. Somehow it's not personal, it's universal. It's just part of being a person who cares about doing well. And somewhere right now, plenty of other people are sitting with this exact same feeling. So this means you're not alone in this. And now if it feels right, you might place a hand somewhere that feels supportive, like the chest or the stomach. And from there, see if you can offer yourself something kind, not to fix or solve this situation. Instead, just speaking to yourself the way you might speak to a friend who is struggling with the same experience. You can try saying something like, "May I be gentle with myself right now?" Or, "May I remember that showing up is enough, even on the days it doesn't feel perfect." And just noticing how that feels, to meet yourself with a sense of kindness and care. Continuing to show up is what consistency is when you think about it. It's not about always getting perfect grades, not always feeling ready, or not being further along than you are, but just continuing to show up even on the hard days and meeting ourselves with care and compassion as best as we can. So just taking a few more breaths here with that hand still resting wherever it is. Letting yourself stay with this a little longer. And then gently starting to bring your awareness back to the room around you. Noticing the different sounds, the space,...
