(ethereal electronic music) There are times in life when we naturally find ourselves looking back, reflecting on the choices we've made, the people we've loved, the opportunities we took, and the ones we let pass by. When we reflect on our lives, we may be quick to evaluate, critique, or judge our past choices with the wisdom we have today, but that's unfair to the version of ourselves who was living that chapter. After all, they didn't know what you know now. If you'd like to journal along with this practice, now's a wonderful time to pause the audio and grab a piece of paper and a pen. You might write down anything that comes up as we move through the reflection together, or if you'd rather listen, that's welcome too. There's no right or wrong way to explore this practice. So whenever you're ready, taking in a slow, comfortable breath, allowing the body to settle. Now, imagine your life as a book, a book made up of many chapters, some joyful, some painful, some ordinary. This reflection is an invitation to step back and look at the whole book, not just the page you're currently on. So allowing one chapter of your life to come to mind, perhaps a chapter that felt difficult or uncertain, maybe a chapter that asked more of you than you've ever imagined. Seeing that younger version of yourself, just as they were, noticing what they were carrying, what they hoped for, what they feared, and what they couldn't possibly have known at that time, it can be easy to look back and see only the mistakes or their limitations, but today, I'd like to invite you to try the most generous interpretation of their actions, perhaps asking yourself, what was this version of me doing their best to navigate? Or what did they need most in that moment? Allow whatever comes to mind without judging. Perhaps the chapter felt impossible when you were living it, or even like a dead end, and yet, looking back now, you can see that it was simply the messy middle of a chapter, a chapter that eventually gave way to another. As you reflect, you may ask yourself, what did this chapter ask me to become? What strength did I discover? Is there something from this chapter that I'd like to carry forward, giving yourself a moment to notice? Now, gently bringing your attention to the chapter you're living today, without asking whether it's a good chapter or a difficult one, just noticing where you are and asking yourself, what is the most generous way to interpret this chapter of my life? Perhaps this is a chapter of slowing down, perhaps it's a chapter of letting go, or of learning to receive help. Perhaps it's a chapter of rediscovering what matters most, or perhaps you're still finding the words to describe it, and that's okay. There's no need to rush the story. You don't need to have the...
