Better mental health starts with Headspace

Knowing our goal with clear intention and a kind heart we move forward in life. Our happiness is not dependent on reaching that goal. We're happy and free as we go. So very often with meditation there's an idea that somehow in letting go we have to let go of everything even any idea of goals or dreams or hopes in life. But that's not really what we're talking about we're talking about letting go of any attachment to the result. So if we can go about our life living with a sense of purpose, meaning and direction focused on what's happening right now and the process itself the unfolding process rather than the destination or the result then that's a way of living happily. But if our happiness is dependent on achieving that result or getting to that destination, then we set up a real state of tension perhaps even anxiety in the mind where we're always striving to get there knowing hoping that we'll find happiness at the end. So as much as possible letting go of any idea of goal or destination and just being focused on this moment right now. So just making sure that you're sat comfortably making sure that the back is straight is upright without being forced in any way. We're gonna start with the eyes open and some big deep breaths breathing in through the nose out through the mouth. As you breathe in noticing how the chest expands as the lungs fill with air. And as you breathe out through the mouth and the muscles soften as the body gives way. With the next exhalation, just allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm. As you close the eyes, feel the weight of the body pressing down and just settle in to a space around you. Remember allowing sounds to come and go. Just paying attention to the not getting involved in them, not resisting them just noticing the different sounds around you. And as you bring the attention back to the body noticing how you're sat, noticing how the body feels right now, sense of tiredness or lightness. Is there a greater sense of stillness or restlessness in the body right now, without trying to change anything just being interested, curious, starting at the top of the head just gently scanning down all the way to the toes noticing how the body feels. And now just shifting that attention to the breath and to the movement of breath in the body, and noticing where you feel the rising and falling sensation of the breath. And noticing the rhythm of the breath as well where the breaths along short, deep, or shallower. And as you continue to follow the breath now counting the breaths as they pass just remembering to realize to notice when the mind is become distracted in some way each time just gently coming back to that point of focus to the breath. And each time you...
