Better mental health starts with Headspace

Hey, Courtney here. Welcome back to "Better Money Moves". Today we're gonna slay that debt, taking no prisoners. If there's anything you need to know right now, it's this: debt is human, it's common. You are not alone with your debt. It often makes us feel powerless, like there's a number attached to us we can never shake off. But with Kathlen's tip in this episode, you're gonna feel way more empowered to attack that number in the best way for you. Here's Kathlen. Welcome back to day five. How did it go setting up your savings account? I hope you saw that it wasn't as hard as it may have felt in the beginning. Today, we're gonna tackle something that may feel even scarier, and that's debt. So many of us have it. Whether we took it out to be able to go to college, maybe we swiped that credit card way too many times, or maybe we just did something because we had a huge emergency and we had to go into debt. Whatever your reason for having debt know that you are not alone. So many of us have this huge number that we feel like is a huge secret that we keep from the world around us. But today, we're gonna talk about how to slay that debt. With debt, it can often feel like we have this huge number. We need to take an honest look at our debt. It can feel scary to do, but honestly, once you're done with it, you can begin figuring out how you're, again, going to slay it. First, we need to understand where it is and how much of it there is. One place to start is to just start collecting all the bills that you receive every month. Do you have credit card bills? Do you have student loan bills? Is there a mortgage? So first thing, just grab all those bills, open those bad boys up, and let's get ready to rumble. Get clear on how much is owed to them and what each of the interest rates are. Take a pen, grab a piece of paper and just go, like we did with our transactions, one at a time. Credit card number one, how much do you owe, and what's the interest rate? Credit card number two, how much do you owe, and what's the interest rate? Student loan, maybe one, two, three, four. What's your mortgage? Each of those, one at a time list out how much do you owe and what's the interest rate. Next what you'll wanna do is organize them either by amount or by interest rate. If you wanna get crazy like me, do this in Excel doc and it becomes a lot quicker to be able to toggle between the two. Now, yesterday we talked about how interest rate can be amazing. Remember that free money that you got. Well, when it comes to your credit or when it...
