(peaceful music) Let's take a moment to quiet things down, even if it's just for a few minutes. Find a position where your body can actually be at ease. When it feels right, let your eyes close. Inhale slowly through the nose, and exhale like you're letting go of something. One more time. In and out. Now letting your breath return to whatever pace feels natural. (peaceful music) So, a lot of tension with the people we're close to doesn't come from one big disagreement. More often, it comes from small things that were never said, small things that go buried until they turn into something bigger than they ever needed to be. That sounds familiar, that's okay. A lot of us do this. Just noticing if there are certain things that come to mind that may have gone unsaid. We don't need to judge these things. We're just noticing for now. Sometimes it's easier to not say anything. We tell ourselves it's not really a big deal or that bringing it up will make things awkward or that we don't have the right words yet, but the words are still there. The feelings are still there. And then something small can set you off, and suddenly your words are coming out sharper than they needed to. Notice that pattern without judging it. (peaceful music) If it feels okay, let a specific relationship come to mind, someone you're close to where something's gone unsaid for a while. You don't have to say anything right now. Just notice that it's there, sitting quietly, and see if you can sense what's underneath that silence. Maybe it's fear of how they react. Maybe it's a worry that it will sound petty, or maybe it's just not knowing how to start. Whatever it is, let yourself notice it without needing to judge it or fix it. (peaceful music) See if you can imagine saying it plainly, gently, the way you might want someone to say something to you, not a speech, just one honest sentence. Something like, "Hey, that didn't sit right with me. Can we talk about it?" You don't have to say it out loud right now, just notice how it feels. Communication isn't about finding the perfect words. It's about acknowledging when something bothers you and allowing yourself to say why before it grows into resentment. Taking one more breath here. (peaceful music) And whenever you're ready, opening your eyes, carrying a little more honesty with you into your day....
