Better mental health starts with Headspace

Hi, and welcome to this short guided meditation designed to help you take a break in your day. It can be so hard to find a moment for yourself even to just take a coffee break, but taking time to recharge and to be kind to your mind will hopefully leave you feeling calmer and clearer even if it's just a few short moments to perhaps make a coffee, refresh your mind, and to step away from your computer screen. We might not think that your mind needs a rest, but just like our bodies, we need to show it some love. In meditation, we're training the mind to be more present and connected. And in turn, we tend to experience a greater sense of calm, clarity, and contentment in our lives. So join me now in this short meditation, put down the to-do list, and give yourself a moment to pause. So take a moment to get comfortable wherever you're sitting and take a couple of big, deep breaths, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. And with the next outbreath, you can close your eyes if that's comfortable to do so, and just feeling the weight of your body pressing down. So just allowing your focus, your attention to move above the head and just imagining a steady stream of warm sunlight flowing down into the body. It's as though this sunlight is just going to wash away any tension in the body, just watching as it flows down, bringing with it a sense of ease and space as it travels down towards the toes, and then just watching as it fills the body, any discomfort to solving in that sunlight, and travels up the legs towards the waist, and slowly into the upper half of the body. Any tension just giving way. The sunlight moving up through the chest, the upper back, and the shoulders, and flowing down the arms into the hands and into their fingers. Still that sunlight continues to flow down, filling now the throat, the neck, all the way up into their head and the face. Any last areas of tension to softening until it reaches the very top of the head, just allowing that feeling to remain, just letting go of that image in your own time. You can gently open your eyes again. Take a pause and appreciate having taken this time for yourself....
