Welcome back to day two. Courtney here. Yesterday you took some time to narrow in on a specific dream you have when it comes to your finances. I hope by now you've got something in your head that you're really excited about. Today we're gonna take that goal and see what kind of stories or attitudes we might be attaching to it. You might think, not me, but the truth is we all carry different ideas about money in our heads, and sometimes they hold us back. That's why today, Catherine's gonna help us let go of any old money stories we might be hanging on to and write a whole new one. So that goal can be fresh and shiny and free of limitations. Here's Catherine. What's up? I hope by now you are super excited about what your big goal is. Now in day two, we're gonna build on that and figure out what are the money stories that you are telling yourself that might be subconsciously influencing how you are with your money. So you might be wondering what the heck is a money story? A money story is something that we tell ourselves over and over, and oftentimes we're honestly not even aware that they're there. An example of this might be, hmm, I don't need money to be happy. This is one that I had all the time growing up, because whenever I thought about money, I thought about all the stress and the arguments that I faced around lack of money and what to do with it. So before I really thought that I didn't need money to be happy. But once I began seeing that, well, money doesn't equal happiness, but it does give me more opportunities to experience happiness, I was able to have a more positive relationship with money, and my money story became empowering instead of disempowering. It became empowering because now instead of thinking about all that fear of, you know, I don't need money, who cares about it? Who cares what I have in my bank account? Who cares about how much I have? If I have credit card debt, whatever, there's more to life than money. I was putting myself in a bigger, bigger financial hole. Once I began saying, actually, the abundance of money is leading to more freedom and more opportunities, I began to see that having more of it wasn't actually bad. So here's a few more examples. The first one is, you know, rich people are greedy, and I don't wanna be greedy, so therefore I don't wanna be rich. Or maybe you say to yourself, you know, money in, money out. It comes and goes, it's not important. It doesn't matter. Notice how each of these stories might actually make you feel. It's not just the story that you're telling yourself, but the emotions that come up. So if you think about money makes people greedy, or you think about the idea...
