Celebrate Yourself
Caregiving is an act of selflessness that doesn’t always receive the recognition it deserves — but we can always give it to ourselves. Hi, it's Tiffany. Thanks so much for joining me. Find a comfortable position, settle in place your hands in your lap, or let your arms fall by your sides. Take a deep breath in and out again. In and out. One last time, in and out. Take a moment to sit with your thoughts. Allow them to come and go without direction or judgment. We all want to feel appreciated to know that the time and energy we put into supporting the people in our lives are valued. But as caregivers, we may not receive this appreciation as often as we'd like. Yes, outside validation matters, but when it's not available, it's easy to fall into a pattern of feeling down about yourself. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. There's an easy always available source to look to, to celebrate and honor the amazing work you do. It's you. Studies show that celebrating yourself keeps you motivated, improves your confidence, and wards off stress. Let's give it a try. Now, sit or stand just a little bit straighter. Now really lean into this channel, your inner superhero. Go ahead. Stick out your chest. Lift your chin, hold your head high. Experience yourself just being in this posture. Alright, I now repeat after me. It takes a strong person to do what I do. My actions are based in love and kindness. I recognize my generosity. I am valuable, and make positive contributions in the lives of others. Now done. Now, think. Of the or people you support with your care. With them in mind, complete the following statement. I always do my best to care for this person. Keep looking inward. You have the power to teach others to appreciate you by showing them you appreciate yourself. Take a moment to create your own mantra. One, you can use any time you need a reminder of how wonderful you are. You can use this whenever you need it. Now, before you go, repeat this after me out loud or in your head. My appreciation comes from within me. One more time. My appreciation comes from within me. You got this....
