Getting away is one thing. Actually arriving is another. We spend so much time looking forward to a trip, and then we get there, and the planning mind follows us. The same mind we use to manage our everyday lives, our schedules, our to-do list, it comes along for the vacation. And suddenly, we're planning and controlling every moment, trying to make it perfect. And in trying to make it perfect, we miss it. Slowing down is actually a skill, and that's why we're here to practice, a chance to actually inhabit the time you've given yourself rather than manage it. And one of the most accessible tools we have to slow down time is the breath. When we slow the breath down, we can slow our experience of time. So, let's try this together now. Just gently closing the eyes, if that feels right for you. Noticing sounds around you in your space. Feeling the air on your skin, the temperature. The body resting on the surface beneath you. Now, taking a deep breath in and a slow breath out. Just arriving and settling in. In this practice, we're gonna try a simple breathing technique. It's called the 4-7-8 breath. You'll inhale in through the nose for four counts. Hold for seven. And exhale slowly out through the mouth for eight. The extended exhale is what can allow us to slow down and help the mind to relax. And as the breath slows, so does our sense of time. If at any time the breath hold feels uncomfortable, you can just take some nice, deep breaths, going at a pace that feels right for you. So, let's try it together for a total of six rounds. So, breathing in, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. In, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. And again, inhale, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four, five, six, seven. And exhale, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. In, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Just continuing on your own now. Breathing in for four. Holding for seven. And out for eight. And now, returning your breath back to its natural rhythm and pace. And just noticing how the body feels. Perhaps a little more settled or more present. And from this place of stillness, let a moment from your trip come to mind. Something from today or recently. Noticing what was around you. What you could hear. Was there a smell in the air, a texture beneath your hands, a quality of light? Letting the body remember what it was like to fully be there. Giving this moment the full attention it deserves. And noticing how, even now, here, the body responds. Maybe there's a sense of warmth or ease. Something that feels like gratitude. Just...
