Better mental health starts with Headspace

Hi, welcome back to pro packs into session one of level seven. So in level six, we were looking at our attachment to our sense of identity. And as we move into level seven, we're gonna look at how that can influence our ability to discover and rest in the place of compassion that exists within us all. Obviously, the more attached we are to our identity, the more focus there is on self, and the more focused we are on ourself, the less able we are to look outside of ourselves and to be present with those around us. But ultimately, there's a place where we can even sort of transcend that as an idea. There's no longer this separation between self and other. And when we sit to practice, as we live our lives, there is simply a sense of being present, and being present so that we are able to benefit everyone, ourselves included. No longer seeing is something separate and no longer seeing it as a strategy, something that we have to think our way through. In letting go of the thinking mind, we discover a place where there's a natural sort of place of compassion and empathy, but we don't have to think it through or we don't have to consider or expect anything in return. So that's gonna be our focus in level seven. How do we let go of that sort of sense of focus on just ourselves? And in doing so, how can we transcend thought so we spend more time in that place of compassion, bringing a sort of a warmer quality to our practice and to our life? All you need to do right now, though, is to get yourself comfortable. We're gonna start in the usual way with some big deep breaths. And just in your own time now, just bringing that attention back to the body, that sensation of contact and weight. And whenever you feel ready, just gently opening the eyes again. There's always at the end of these meditations, just taking a moment to notice how you feel and just putting in the intention to not only come back to this on a regular basis, but also just to remind yourself of that intention that we went into today's practice with, not being too focused on the self. And we're gonna go into this over the next few days. And I think very often due to the nature of our attachment to identity and self, very often this can feel a little uncomfortable and we might be well, but I have very specific reasons for doing this and I don't want to let go of those reasons. And the good news is we don't have to. We can still be aware of why it is we started meditation, why we came to meditation, and why on any given specific day we might be sitting down to practice, but it's in becoming aware of that that we...
