Calming a 'reactive' mind

Calming a 'reactive' mind

What's the best methods for meditation when your mind is very reactive to an event or decision? E.g. A presentation or difficult event. Any tips for breathing to maintain the meditative state?

Andy's answer:

When the mind is very active around a particular event it is important to give it lots of space - the worse thing we can do is to pin it down. So take a very gentle approach to meditation on these days. In terms of maintaining a meditative state, I would instead think about the process in terms of continually letting go and finding yourself in the present moment again and again.

When we try to maintain or hold on to a 'state' then we tend to lose the quality of awareness and openness which is so important in meditation.
