Radio Headspace #18 – Why do we sleep?

by Georgie Okell

  • Share

We spend a third of our time on this planet sleeping, so you’d think that we’d be pretty good at it by now.

That doesn’t seem to be the case though, and we certainly get a lot of questions about sleep and the lack thereof at Headspace. It’s a big reason people turn to meditation and mindfulness. Getting the right amount of sleep can have a big impact on the rest of our lives, so we invited Dr Adrian Williams, Professor of Sleep Medicine at King’s College, London and one of the world’s foremost experts on sleep, to answer some of our biggest questions – why do we sleep, how long should we sleep, how can we sleep better?

If you enjoy our podcasts, why not subscribe on iTunes and leave us a comment in the review section? It always means a lot to us to get your feedback.

If you’re still struggling with sleep, check out the Headspace app. It’s completely free to download and allows you to try our Take10 series.
